ATC wants reply on arrest warrants for Musharraf

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit a written reply about the non-bailable arrest warrants of former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf in the Benazir Bhutto (BB) murder case on the next date of hearing. ATC Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan conducted the hearing at Adiyala Jail and adjourned proceedings until April 30.
The FIA also pleaded before the court to declare Pervez a proclaimed offender (PO) in the BB murder case and confiscate his property in Pakistan, but the court rejected the plea, saying no further action could be taken in the case until FIA did not implement the arrest warrants of the accused. FIA prosecutors Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ahmed and Chaudhry Azhar informed the court that the UK Home Department had excused from taking action against Musharraf as there was no extradition treaty between Pakistan and the UK.
The prosecutors also told the court that the UK Home Department also said that Musharraf was not in the UK and was staying in Dubai.
