Surgical goods export increases by 2.66pc

Export of surgical goods have increased by 2.66 percent and reached $18.19 million during the last nine months of the current financial year. According to the Federal Bureau of Statistic (FBS), export of surgical goods was recorded at $17.72 million in the nine months of FY11.
During the period under review, cutlery goods of about $64.119 million have been exported showing an increase of 37.91 per cent as against $46.49 million of the same period of last year. Meanwhile, export of electronic fans increased by 26.39 percent during the period from July 2010 to March 2011, as about 1,348 thousand units worth $27.8 million exported.
The export of fans was recorded at 1,100 thousand units with a total cost of $ 22 million during the first nine months of last financial year. However, gems exported exhibited negative growth, as it export was decreased by 53.85 percent where as the export of furniture posted 38.14 percent growth during the period under review.
