A police officer and former SHO was gunned down inside his house within the jurisdiction of New Karachi police precincts. The 41-year-old Zulfiqar Qaimkhani was shot and killed in the New Karachi police family quarters. The area houses not just the quarters but the New Karachi police station and the superintendent’s office as well. Although policemen are deployed at entry and exit points of the police lines, nobody saw any suspects.
Karachi has been a sensitive area as many people have been killed in 2011. Now the police are being targeted and it is a huge concern for the city administrators. A new plan should be devised to counter the target killing so that the people of Karachi could once again feel safe and have a healthy environment.
