Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday told the National Assembly that the federal government would provide security and legal assistance to Mukhtaran Mai.
He was responding to a point of order raised by Sherry Rehman. Sherry said Mai was fighting for justice since the last nine years, but only one accused was given life time imprisonment while rest had been acquitted.
She called upon the government to file a review petition for Mai and provide her security, as she was feared for Mai’s life due to the acquittal of other accused.
