Pakistan women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Thursday to register their first-ever win in 12 matches in Sri Lanka. It was their second victory over Sri Lanka in 20 one-day internationals and 16th overall in 77 matches.
n The two-wicket win was Pakistan women’s smallest against Sri Lanka and second smallest overall after one-wicket win over Holland at Karachi on April 9, 2001.
n Batool Fatima became the first wicket-keeper to dismiss five or more batswomen behind the wickets in women’s limited overs internationals. The 28-year old wicket-keeper achieved this by holding four catches and one stumping in Sri Lankan innings. She equalled the world record of most dismissals by holding two catches and getting four stumps against West Indies at Karachi on March 23,2004. It happened eight times when a wicket-keeper dismissed five or more batswomen behind the wickets.
n Javeria Khan made her maiden half century in 17 innings of 19 matches by scoring an unbeaten 63 off 118 balls with five fours. It was highest individual score against Sri Lanka and second highest individual score for Pakistan after Mahewish Khan’s 69 off 72 balls with 10 fours against Holland at Karachi on April 14, 2001. Asma Farzand’s 60 off 73 balls with nine fours at Colombo on April 15, 1998, was the previous highest for Pakistan against Sri Lanka. Javeria Khan’s previous best was 38 off 56 balls with six fours against Holland at Potchefstroom on October 9, 2010.
n Qanita Jalil became the first Pakistani bowler to take a wicket off the very first ball of the match by bowling out Chamari Atapattu. It was Chamari Atapattu’s maiden duck against Pakistan and second in limited overs international cricket.
