Sweepers at the Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH) on Thursday protested against FMH Assistant Director Administration Abid Rasheed and his colleague, Khwaja, for torturing sweepers on theft charges.
Dozens of sweepers blocked the road in front of the hospital for about two hours. The police have registered a case against Abid and a few others. The hospital’s management refused to take back sweepers who went on strike, while the sweepers say that they will continue the strike if the management tried to fire them. FMH sources said sweepers Muneera and Nusrat were charged with stealing a patient’s handbag and were allgedly subjected to torture by the hospital administration.
