KARACHI – A polio case has been reported in Manghopir Colony of Orangi Town, it was revealed during a meeting of the District Task Force for Polio Eradication held at the Civic Center on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Karachi District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Hussain Syed and attended by town administrators, Health Executive District Officer (EDO) Dr Nasir Javed, Education EDO Dr Ibrahim Kanbhar, Revenue deputy district officers, assistant education officers, a medical team from Geneva and representatives of the World Health Organisation.
The participants of the meeting were informed that the residents of Manghopir Colony had refused allowing medical teams to administer polio drops to children. The DCO said that people were not cooperating with the medical teams in some areas, which is the reason the campaign has not yielded 100 percent result. He said that more attention would be paid to the three-day polio eradication campaign that starts on May 9.
