KARACHI – First year students of the Sindh Madressatul Islam College (SMIC) organised a farewell party for the passing out students of second year. A passionate performance by the students on the Sindhi folk song ‘Sindh Jeay, Sindh Wara Jean’ (long live Sindh, long live its people) captivated the hearts and minds of the audience. Similarly, a ‘2Man Show’ and skit on the subject of science, symbolising the provinces of Pakistan including Gilgit Baltistan, was entertaining and informative. In this skit, five students acted as Ms Physics, Ms Math, Ms Chemistry, Ms Biology and “Elem” (learning).
The students also showed pictures of their unforgettable moments spent at the SMIC through multimedia. The programme was a great festivity that reflected both the sad and happy moods of the students. SMIC Principal Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh presided over the programme and his spouse Shaista Mohammed Ali was the chief guest. While appreciating the efforts of the faculty and performance of students, Dr Shaikh said that the Sindh Madressah has a great tradition to organise such co-curricular activities since the past 126 yeas of its life, but it has always balanced co-curricular activities with curricular activities.
Dr Shaikh said that the Sindh Madressah has produced a galaxy of students, who reached to the highest posts in all fields of society from judges to generals, educationists to social scientists and intellectuals to writers. “The students who complete their education at SMIC feel more responsible towards the country and its people as they carry the name of this great institution with their credentials,” he said. Dr Shaikh further said that the old students of the Sindh Madressah not only created a new country – Pakistan but worked for its prosperity and growth.
Today, Sindh Madressah is also engaged in providing quality education to its younger generation.
