Children’s health should be considered as a serious issue, but it is ignored altogether in most of the houses. Parents only keep fees, clothes, books, stationery items and pocket money of their children in mind and hardly focus on recreational activities and other things they eat at their schools. It has been observed that edibles which are sold outside schools are of substandard quality. There are several brands of sweets or toffees which are available at every shop and are being sold to children without considering their harmful effects on their health. Mukhtar Ahmed, a businessman, said low-quality edibles were available outside every school and it was the responsibility of parents, schools administration and government departments to keep a check on such harmful things. A teacher, Hafiza Raheela, said media should highlight these issues and added most of the edibles were prepared without any approval of the authorities concerned. Nisar, a vendor, said “We do not prepare these things at home. We buy them from other shops and sell them to the children getting more profit as children do not bargain while buying things from them
