MQM parliamentarians condemn unannounced power outages

KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) parliamentarians on Wednesday condemned long and unannounced power outages in the city that have badly affected the normal life of the citizens. They said the long hours of load shedding have made the life of people miserable with business activities the worst-affected. The students are also facing problems as they have to prepare for their annual examination without electricity. The candidates are forced to take their examination in the hot weather in the absence of electricity.
They demanded that President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and the Sindh chief minister should take serious notice of the long spells of load shedding and take immediate steps for providing relief to the common people. Meanwhile, the MQM Coordination Committee has strongly condemned the attack on Naved Kamal, a reporter of private TV channel, and termed it an attempt to curb freedom of press.
Saying the attack has created a sense of insecurity among the journalist community, they demanded that the government should arrest the perpetrators of the attack. The committee also prayed for the early recovery and well-being of Kamal.
