KARACHI – Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) teams embarked on a campaign on Tuesday to remove illegal electricity connection (kundas) in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth near Al-Azhar Garden in KDA Scheme No 33, but were attacked by the violent residents of the unauthorised settlement, the power utility claimed in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The teams also seized one complete span of BC wire and around 800 metres long PVC and telephone wire used for stealing electricity from the nearby power supply network.
Accompanied by police officials, the KESC teams successfully completed the raid at this remote place despite the attackers physically stopping them and throwing stones at the employees at work.
The goth has recently built around 300 to 400 unauthorised houses near Chapel Sun City Bungalows across the road. The population of the goth has set up an enormous network of illegal electricity connections from the supply system of the Chapel Sun City Bungalows. They also attacked photo-journalists a few days ago for taking photographs there, the press release added.
