KARACHI – The business community of Karachi is now at ease with measures and proposals of the law enforcement agencies to contain criminal activities – bhatta mafia, kidnapping for ransom – in industrial areas, alluded Sindh Chief Minister’s Advisor on Investment Zubair Motiwala while speaking at the inauguration of construction work of the Afza Altaf flyover. While expressing satisfaction over the proposals and measures being taken by the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi Saud Mirza, the advisor on investment also urged the business community to extend full cooperation to the police authorities so that the overall law and order situation could be improved in city’s industrial areas.
Motiwala said that CCPO Mirza had met with the business community recently, and proposed a number of measures aimed at controlling criminal activities in industrial areas besides ensuring safety and security of industrialists. Under the proposal, exit and entry gates would be installed at the main points of SITE industries with the establishment of police checkpoints. Besides, a strict crime monitoring system would also be introduced.
The advisor said that industries’ close circuit cameras will also be plugged onto the main screen of SITE’s security system. The central crime monitoring system will locate the criminals with the help of latest technology and share information with the police checkpoints and the patrolling teams so that the criminals can be apprehended on the spot, the advisor added.
