India offers to sell electricity to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – India has offered to sell electricity at cheap rates to Pakistan, which will come under discussion along with other bilateral trade issues when commerce secretaries of both the countries hold talks after two years on April 27.
Commerce Secretary Zafar Mehmood told Pakistan Today on Wednesday that India had offered to provide electricity at cheap rates to Pakistan, but said he was not aware of the proposal’s details. The two commerce secretaries are scheduled to meet in Islamabad on April 27-28.
Indian Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar would be visiting Pakistan for the meeting, which is part of the resumed dialogue process. Indian proposal on energy trade is quite perplexing for Pakistani officials, as they are unaware from where India would offer additional electricity and at what price.
