‘Work on labour colony to begin soon’

Punjab Labour and Manpower Secretary Ijaz Munir has announced to start work on new labour colony in Gujranwala next week, besides intending to build two schools and a medical centre. He was addressing a meeting of Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) during his visit to the city. The meeting was chaired by GCCI President Sheikh Sarwat Ikram while a large number of industrialists and representatives of labourers were among the participants. Ijaz Munir added that the holders of Employees Old-age Benefit Institution (EOBI) cards should be given all welfare grants. He added the department would soon introduce one-window operation for payments to Workers Welfare Funds, Social Security and EOBI. He urged traders to ensure implementation of labour laws.
