Zardari takes party on board over national govt

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party’s Co-chairman President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday took his party’s parliamentary leaders into confidence on the government’s talks with other political parties for formation of a broad-based government, including the inclusion of the PML-Q into the federal cabinet.
Addressing PPP MNAs at the presidency on Tuesday, Zardari said the PPP would continue its march towards strengthening democracy and state institutions besides putting economy back on track while following the policy of reconciliation and dialogue with its allies and all political forces in the country.
The country is faced with huge challenges including economic stress, energy crisis, rising inflation besides militancy and extremism but “equally strong is our resolve to steer the country out of difficulty”, he said.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Faryal Talpur, Minister for Defence Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Religious Affairs Khursheed Shah, Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, Minister for Industry and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Minister for Textile Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Minister for Environment Samina Khalid Ghurki, Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Qamar Zaman Kaira were also present.
The president asked PPP parliamentarians to step up contacts with voters of their respective constituencies and concentrate on addressing their grievances.
The party MPs reposed complete confidence in the leadership of the PPP in running the affairs of the party as well as the government.
