LAHORE – Punjab Colours won the first PHF U-18 Girls Hockey Championship that concluded here at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore on Tuesday. The winners played a goalless game against Railways and were forced to enter into extra time. Anaza Bashir of Colours brought win for her team in the very first minute of the extra time with the golden goal.
Provincial Education Minister Mujtaba Shajua Rehman was the chief guest of the final and gave the trophy and other prizes to the winners. Earlier, Punjab Whites blanked out Balochistan 5-0 to secure the third place in the championship while Khyber PK defeated Sindh 5-3 to get fifth place in the event. Meanwhile, Sports Board Punjab hosted a dinner in honour of Championship participants to honour the winning team Punjab Colours and to stimulate the sports activities throughout Punjab.
Director General Sports Punjab Mrs Fehmeeda Mushtaq, Organising secretary, Miss Perveen Gill, participant teams from all over Pakistan and other officials attended the gathering at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.
