PAL to publish books on Faiz

LAHORE – Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Fakhar Zaman announced on Wednesday that PAL was planning to publish two books titled “Faiz Tanqeed ki Meezan Par” and “Khushnawa Faqir Faiz Ahmed Faiz” on the work of renowned poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Giving a briefing, Zaman said that the PAL Faiz Ahmed Faiz Auditorium would be completed by the year 2011 and added that the year 2011 had been declared as “Faiz Year”.
The chairman said that the book, “Faiz Tanqeed ki Meezan Par” by Ashfaq Hussain that contained reviews of the articles on Faiz was in the process of printing. In this book, he said, the author had dealt with a number of objections to Faiz. He said the second book, “Khushnawa Faqir Faiz Ahmed Faiz” consisted of the memoirs of Abdul Rahim Anjaan in which he described the time he had spent with Faiz. Zaman said work on holding Faiz Ahmed Faiz International Conference was also in process.
He said that the prime minister of Pakistan would be requested to chair the opening as well as the concluding ceremony of the conference where scholars and intellectuals from Holland, Germany, Italy, France, UK, Russia, Uzbekistan, Canada, USA, Denmark, India, Czechoslovakia, the South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries and others would be invited to present papers on Faiz. Zaman said that the PAL Faiz Ahmed Faiz Auditorium was the only auditorium in Pakistan dedicated to Faiz.
