ISLAMABAD/LAHORE – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will not join the federal cabinet until its 9-point agenda is accepted by the government, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said on Tuesday.
The MQM leader & Deputy Parliamentary leader in National Assembly was talking to the journalists here on Tuesday outside the Parliament House. When contacted, MQM’s Sindh IT Minister Raza Haroon, said, “It is not anything new as the MQM’s 9-point agenda still remains unfulfilled and we won’t join the cabinet.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement sources told Pakistan Today that the party’s leadership had turned down government’s requests for rejoining the federal cabinet. They, however, said that the MQM would not create problems for the government.
Joint In-charge of Central Information Committee Qamar Mansoor told this scribe that PPP government was not sincere enough to resolve the problems faced by people and that was why MQM quit the central government. According to sources, in the latest move the government had offered the MQM four key ministries in federal cabinet but MQM’s refusal led the government to woo PML-Q instead.
On the other hand, PML Q sources said that the party leaders were stilled divided over the issue of joining the government.
