KARACHI – The ceiling plaster in a classroom of a government-run primary school in Goth Abdul Rehman Jokhio, Bin Qasim Town collapsed on Tuesday morning, inflicting minor injuries to six students. Fearing the worst, their classmates and teacher immediately vacated the classroom and ran towards the courtyard. The injured students were later taken to a private hospital in the village for treatment.
The Goth is a traditional fisherfolk hamlet, and has been braving a shortage of facilities and infrastructure since long: potable water, sewerage and other facilities are virtually nonexistent. The apathy of the authorities concerned manifested in the collapse of the ceiling plaster, but thankfully, no casualties occurred.
