LAHORE – Several documentaries were screened on the second day of the Vasaakh Film Festival at the Forman Christian College (FCC) on Tuesday. Contestants from various universities depicted their talent by showcasing wonderful documentaries. Around 23 short films and documentaries were screened on the second day of the film gala, which raised social problems and covered issues ranging from living in the slums of the River Ravi to poverty and domestic violence. ‘
Not to be loud’ was the first documentary screened on the second day of the film gala, followed by a short film ‘Hayulla’, which was the story of how people become victims of superstitions and destroy their lives. Students from institutions of Lahore including the National College of Arts, Punjab University, Kinnaird College and Fatima Jinnah College, Chunna Mandi also screened their documentaries among students from other institutions. Most films depicted the bitter realities of our society, touching the hearts of the audience.
Some of the other outstanding documentaries were ‘Mehru’, which was about honour killing, ‘Shama Paiyann’, which was based on a woman rejected by society after the death of her husband, and ‘Khuda Zamein Say Gaya Nahi’, a beautiful short film about fake mystics. Among these documentaries, a video about the FCC was screened. After the mid-day break, documentaries made by FCC students were shown. Teams from 23 various national and foreign universities are participating in the three-day festival, which will conclude with an award ceremony today (Wednesday). On the first day, six best South Asian documentaries were screened.
