Pharmacists and doctors be treated alike: PPA

LAHORE – Pakistan Pharmacist Association (PPA) demanded federal government to award pharmacists Special Pay Scale (SPS) 9. They rallied from the Punjab University (PU) Old Campus to the GPO on Monday, protesting that the government had awarded SPS 9 to doctors but had discriminated against pharmacists by only awarding them SPS 7. A number of pharmacists from different public sector hospitals participated in the rally, headed by Prof Dr Bashir Ahmed.
PPA appealed to the prime minister that doctors and pharmacist be treated alike. They demanded the Punjab government to include one of their members in ‘pay package committer’ and increase their salaries. Prof Dr Bashir Amed, while addressing the participants, said that the prime minister had issued SPS for health professionals in which pharmacists were ignored and were only awarded SPS 7, while doctors were awarded SPS 9.
He said that pharmacists also went through the same process as doctors but the government acknowledged only doctors’ services, neglecting the pharmacists, who were the backbone of public hospitals.

please take do or die action against prime minister decision because the duration of course is equal for both and about same subject is taught to pharmacy students . The standard of treatment have become third class or low graded in Pakistan just because of medical doctors and no any professional role have been given to Pharmcists yet. It is requested to govt: that kindly treat doctors and Pharmacist alike otherwise strong action will be taken against govt:

Higly condemnable act by the govt~~~ we the pharmacists would never tolerate it at any cost!!!!!!!!!! we are a part of the health care system n thus deserve equality like in other countries we are treated lyk doctors!!
