Pakistan seeks hockey revival with India

ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said blame game between Pakistan and India has ended following the successful meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries.
He said this while talking to media men here Tuesday after his meeting with Qasim Zia, president Pakistan Hockey Federation and secretary general Asif Bajwa.
Indian hockey team should visit Pakistan unhesitatingly, he said adding every possible security would be provided to them. Restoration of sports ties between the two countries would open up a new chapter of relations, he held.
Proposal had been given regarding hockey series between Pakistan and India that Indian hockey team would be invited to play an exhibition match in Pakistan in May or June during the current year, he informed. Proposal for initiating a 6-match hockey series between Pakistan and India was under consideration, he told.
Indian interior minister would be invited as special guest during the matches so that bilateral ties between the two countries could be further improved, he underlined.
Federal interior secretary had been directed to contact his Indian counterpart and talk to him with regard to security of Indian hockey team, he stated.
If cricket could be played between two countries then hockey could also be played, he held.
