LAHORE – Special Judge Banking Offence (central) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing
of the NICL scam against Moonis Elahi till May 3. Earlier, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) authorities produced Moonis in court seeking adjournment to file the complete challan of the case. The court on the request for adjournment from the prosecution, sought the opinion of defence counsel, Muhammad Iqbal Bhatti, who advised the court to give more time to prosecution for the completion of the challan. The court adjourned the hearing and directed FIA to file the complete challan by the next date of hearing.
Moonis is allegedly involved in facilitating one of the land deals of the NICL scam and FIA summoned Moonis after one of the arrested accused in the NICL corruption case stated that the Al-Tahoor Company drew Rs 220 million through fake bank accounts of Moonis’s manager Abdul Maalik and that money was paid to Moonis. After this statement, the Supreme Court had ordered the FIA to investigate the matter.
