Brig Mehmood hails 5000 Baloch recruitment in Pakistan army

ISLAMABAD – Brigadier (Retd.) Mehmood Shah hailed announcement by Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani about 5000 Baloch men recruitment in Pakistan army this year.
Talking to VOA, he said that Pakistan Army’s Baloch Regiment is second largest after Punjab Regiment. He said that Balochistan lags behind in education sector and therefore, Baloch youth cannot compete with the youth of other parts of the country.
To a question, he said that it is difficult for those willing to join Pak Army to travel from Balochistan to the Inter Services Selection Boards (ISSB) located in other provinces. He said that under the policy Baloch candidates will be allowed to take ISSB exams in Urdu besides English.
He said that the United States has ignored Pakistan and have crossed the scope of the agreement while conducting drone attacks. According to the agreement, if the United States wants to launch drone strikes inside Pakistan it will need to get permission from Pakistan, he added.
To another question, he said that the United States is operating in Afghanistan under the UN mandate and is not authorized to use force in Pakistani territory.
