Yousaf, Arif elected HRCP chairperson and co-chairperson

LAHORE – Zohra Yousaf and Kamran Arif were elected chairperson and co-chairperson respectively of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Sunday.
Other elected office-bearers include Treasurer Zafar A Chaudhry, vice-chairpersons Tahir Hussain (Balochistan), Saleema Hashmi (Punjab), Sher Muhammad Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and Amarnath Motumal (Sindh). Other elected members of the council include Dr Tahira Kamal, Zahoor Ahmed Shahwani, Nasreen Azhar, Salehzada, Jarar Hussain, Shahida Parveen.
Asma Jahangir, Hina Jilani, MA Joseph Francis, Nazish Attaullah, Attiqur Rehman, Irshad Chaudhry, Nadeem Anthony, Dr Mehdi Hassan, Abdur Rehman Jan Sarhindi, Munir Ahmed Memon, Ronald D’Souza, Akhtar Hussain Baloch, Asad Iqbal Butt, Dr Ali Siddiqui, Ghazi Salahuddin, Parveen Somroo, Badaruddin Somroo and Uzma Noorani.
The elections were conducted by an election commission headed by Neelam Hussain and MI Khan and Nasar Ali Shah as members, said a statement issued by outgoing chairperson Dr Mehdi Hassan.
