UHS approves MBBS exam schedule

LAHORE – The Board of Studies in Medicine of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Monday approved the schedule for MBBS professional examinations for session 2010-11. The 21st meeting of UHS Board of Studies was held with Nishtar Medical College Multan Principal Professor Liaq Hussain in the chair.
According to the approved schedule, first professional Part-I examinations will commence from third week of October, first professional Part-II in third week of September, second and third professional in first week of November and final professional MBBS examinations will start in the last week of December. The board also approved the introduction of mandatory basic life support courses for medical students in collaboration with the Institute of Learning Emergency Medicine, accredited by Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council of Ireland.
Medical students will be required to have certification in these courses and examined in their final professional practical examinations as well. The board also agreed to the inclusion of essential component of “Social Responsibility” in the curriculum of MBBS students.
