LAHORE – Aslam Masih, 26, a taxi driver and resident of the Francis Town Chung, who was kidnapped six days ago along with his taxi from Chung police limits, was found dead in Head Balloki on Sunday.
Police registered a case only after the victim was found dead though his father had submitted an application on the day of his son’s abduction. The victim’s father, Sharif Masih had reported to the police around six days back that his son had been kidnapped along with his taxi as he left the home and submitted an application for the registration of an FIR against unknown kidnappers but the police directed Sharif to trace out his son on his own.
On Saturday, an unknown kidnapper called Sharif from the deceased’s cell phone and informed him that he had thrown Aslam’s corpse in some canal after snatching his taxi. The next day, a passer-by spotted a body floating in the canal near Head Balloki upon which the police made announcements after which the Sharif identified his son. A police official said that the victim was tortured to death six days ago as his body was putrefied. Police are searching for the clues.
Property dealer shot dead in Johar Town: A 32-year-old property dealer was gunned down by his friend over a monetary dispute in the Johar Town Police Station precincts on Sunday. Police have registered a case against the accused killer but made no arrests. The deceased was identified as Khurram Yaseen, a resident of 270/E2 Johar Town.
Police said that the victim ran a real estate office near his house where his friend Rashid Butt, a resident of the same locality often came. According to Yaseen’s wife, Rashid Butt and his accomplices Khurram opened fire on her husband and fled. As a result, Khurram was critically injured. After hearing bullet shots, the victim’s family members and some local residents gathered on the scene and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police shifted the body to the mortuary for autopsy and have registered a case of murder against the accused killer on complaint of Yaseen’s brother Imran Butt. Separately, a 30-year-old man was killed by a rashly-driven car in the Sherakot Police Station precincts. The deceased was identified as Bismillah Khan, a resident of the same locality.
Police said that the victim was crossing the main road near Sherakot Motorway Interchange when a speeding car hit him from behind and fled. As a result, he was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities. No arrests have been made so far.
