Pakistan clinch SAARC Baseball Cup

LAHORE – Pakistan beat Sri Lanka 8-2 to win the First SAARC Baseball Cup at the Punjab Stadium here on Sunday. Pakistan took the gold as they won all of their matches in the tournament. Sri Lanka won silver while Afghanistan won bronze.
Pakistan started their first innings with Imtiaz making a score.
Sri Lankan batters failed to make any score. In the second innings Pakistan couldn’t make any score while Sri Lankan batters made two scores through Khosla and Timmuni. Sri Lanka enjoyed one score lead till the end of the fourth innings. Pakistan batters however, composed themselves and clubbed Sri Lankan pitchers in fifth innings to all corners of the ground.
Pakistan made five scores. Hafiz Musaddaq made one home run. Imtiaz, Arshad, Zaheer, Asif Mustaq also contributed with one score each. Sri lankan batters could not make any score in the rest of their innings amid very tight and accurate pitching by the home side pitcher. Pakistan made one score in the sixth innings through Imtiaz and one more in the eighth innings through Asif to win the match by a lead of six scores.
At close Punjab Education and sports Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman gave away prizes to the players. He also announced, on behalf of the Punjab Chief Minister, a sum of Rs 1.5 million for the players and the officials and Rs. one million for the Pakistan Baseball Federation (PBF). The PBF President Shaukat Javed and secretary General Khawar Shah were also present on the occasion.
