KARACHI – The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) recently inaugurated a water purification plant in Korangi Sector 10 – a part of the company’s resolve to implement social reforms and interventions for the prosperity and betterment of Karachi and its residents. The plant, with a capacity of 1,000 gallons per hour, will provide clean drinking water to a population of around 12,000, said a KESC statement issued on Monday. The chief guest on the occasion was MNA Asif Husnain.
MPA Khalid Iftikhar, Landhi Town Administrator Arshad Noman, DCOO-III Amer Zia and SOCH Foundation President Aamir Ali were among others present at the inauguration ceremony. The KESC was represented by the members of the Marketing and Communication Department along with IBC KIMZ representatives. The volunteers of the Women Empowerment Community Group also attended the event
Korangi-10 – a new sector in Korangi and going through development phase with around fifty percent of the area still under construction – has nearly 2,200 houses. This area poses a serious energy loss issue for the KESC due to the high number of illegal electricity connections.
