IEARN organises orientation for students

ISLAMABAD – Over 35 students and their parents gathered at the National Library on Sunday to kick off their pre-departure orientation for the United States (US) government-funded 2010-11 Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Programme. This is the 9th group of YES students to go to the US.
The orientation programme, organised by the International Education and Resource Network iEARN Society, plays a key role in equipping students with the required skills, attitude and knowledge to spend a successful year in the US.”I am excited to see these outstanding students go to the US,” said the US Cultural Attache Brent Beemer on the occasion.
“They will be studying in US schools, living with American families, and becoming part of their local communities. They will have the opportunity to show everyday Americans the true face of Pakistan. These KL-YES students will be fantastic ambassadors for Pakistan,” he said.
This group is part of a total of 108 students participating in the YES Programme from Pakistan. These students come from 28 cities and comprise the largest single group from any of the 40-plus participating countries.
