SIALKOT – Federal Minister for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said here on Sunday that the next elections in Azad Kashmir would be held in a fair and free manner.
Addressing a press conference, she said that all political parties were united on the Kashmir issue and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had always raised a voice for Kashmiris’ rights, without giving any consideration to political interests.
“Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and time has come to resolve the dispute peacefully (with India) by giving rights to the Kashmiris,” she added. She said that the elections on Kashmiri seats in Sialkot would be fair and transparent and to ensure mandate of Kashmiris, no one would be allowed to rig them.
The minister said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had acknowledged the unprecedented government of the Muslim Conference in Azad Kashmir.
