Police arrest ‘intelligence agency’ swindlers

LAHORE – Police on Saturday arrested a gang which used to loot citizens by pretending to be agents of a secret agency. According to police, the four criminals belong to Karachi. A few days ago, Irfan, Ahmed, Waleed and Hashim arrived in Lahore and used to follow people from the airport and loot them at deserted areas. Police also recovered two cars, local and foreign currency and cellular phones from their possession.
Separately, a petrol pump owner was killed by unidentified motorcyclists in the Islampura Police Station precincts. According to details, Muhammad Shaukat, a resident of Ansari Road and owner of a petrol pump near the sessions court, was going in his car when unidentified men fired at him. Resultantly, he was critically injured and rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The body was shifted to the morgue. Investigation In-charge Mian Zulfiqar claimed that a property dispute was behind the killing. Shaukat’s family have not blamed anyone for the killing. Also on Saturday, an unidentified 20 year old man was killed by unidentified men in North Cantt. Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against unidentified men.
According to details, the victim, a resident of Malikpur, went to the market on Friday but his body was recovered on Saturday from near the airport. Police shifted the body to the morgue and claimed that the real facts will be known after the investigation.
