‘Reconciliation policy necessary for national harmony and stable democracy’

KARACHI – The PPP government is determined to maintain a stable democracy, rule of law, social development and peace in the country at all costs through political reconciliation and consultation with all stakeholders, Provincial Information and Archives Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Friday.
“President and PPPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari believes in the policy of reconciliation and all efforts are being made to take all political parties on board to remove differences and misunderstandings in order to stabilise democracy”, he said.
The minister was talking to various visiting delegations at his office. He vowed to continue fighting against anti-democratic forces and opportunists, who he said, are bent upon destabilising the country and depriving people of their basic rights.
“PPP leaders have shed blood for building institutions, restoring democracy and resolving people’s problems. Asif Ali Zardari carried forward the mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and struggled against anti-democratic elements to bring the country back to path of democracy. The essence of democracy is embodied in the reconciliation policy and the president and prime minister have very clear vision about it,” he said.
He also observed that anti-state elements are trying to destabilise Pakistan and its institutions.
“But we are ready to make every sacrifice to save the country,” he added. He urged upon all political parties to pursue the process of the reconciliation policy to develop national harmony and to save the country from the persisting situation as it is under threat from terrorism and the conspiracies of anti-state elements.
“It is the need of hour to shun differences and adopt a positive approach for the welfare of the country,” he added.
