Man held for arranging fake marriages

MIRPURKHAS – Police arrested the ringleader of a gang arranging fake marriages in lower Sindh and obtained a four-day remand from a local court of Mirpurkhas on Friday.
A police official, Atalluah Jat, told Pakistan Today that Jameela Arain, a resident of Zardari Colony Tando Allihyar, in a FIR registered with the Town Police Station, stated that she arranged marriage of his father Muhammad Ismail Arain with Shama Langhani, the sister of accused Ghulam Haider Langhani of Marvi Town, some days back.
When they reached his house in connection with wedding, they asked to fulfil the formalities but he staged a drama, saying he had clue of his sister who had left the home without intimation.Jameela told Pakistan Today Ghulam Haider had even received Rs 60,000 cash for arranging the marriage but the whole episode proved a farce.
According to the police, Ghulam had befooled about a dozen other grooms in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Naokot, Tando Allihyar and other areas promising tying the know of his sisters and other women with them and later got advance payment for the purpose.
Police also say that the accused, his two sisters and some other members of his gang are involved in the racket.
