Seven killed in Lahore

LAHORE – An alleged robber was killed during a “friendly fire” while two of his accomplices had been arrested, police claimed on Thursday. Police said that the alleged robber sustained a bullet and died soon afterwards, when his accomplices opened fire on the house-owner during a robbery attempt in Nishtar Colony area.
Police investigators said that three armed bandits barged into the house of Mohammad Tayyab and held up the inmates at gunpoint. As Tayyab offered resistance, they opened fire on him but he survived, and the bullet hit one of the robbers. The assailants were trying to flee when the police reached the spot and arrested them.
The injured was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died. In other incidents, three people including a 12-year-old boy were murdered in different parts of the city on Thursday, said police. A 30-year-old rickshaw driver was found tortured to death over old enmity in Sanda police precincts on Thursday.
While resident of Akram Park, Nadeem aka Deema, was found lying dead in a pool of blood near his residence as the police rushed to the crime scene. The police began investigations for both cases with no arrests made so far. In another incident, a 12-year-old boy identified as Mohammad Sajawal was killed when drunken gunmen resorted to aerial firing at Mudassar Gujjar’s wedding party in Shafiqabad police precincts.
Meanwhile, five people died in other incidents.
