LAHORE – Pakistan thrashed Nepal 21-0 in the First SAARC Baseball Cup at the Punjab Stadium here on Thursday. The SAARC Baseball tournament began at the stadium with teams from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan and host Pakistan participating in the event.
The home team batters demonstrated excellent game hitting Nepal pitchers to all corners of the field. In the first innings, Pakistan made five scores through Asif, Iftikhar and Imtiaz. Arshad made one home run.
In the second innings, Nepal pitchers performed well and did not allow Pakistan to score. Pakistani batters made four scores in the third innings. Umair Bhatti, Musaddaq, Asif and Imtiaz made one score each. The home side batters clobbered Nepali pitchers in the fifth innings making 12 scores. Sumair, Arif and Asif made two scores each. Iftikhar also made two score with one home run.
However, Imtiaz was the best performer of the innings. He made two scores with one grand slam home hit. Nepali batters could not survive against the accurate pitching of home pitchers who were always on target. In all innings, Nepali batters failed to make any score. Mr. Park Seong Jun Korean Chief umpire declared the match finished due to score difference.
Mrs. Fahmida Mushtaq, Director General Sports Board Punjab was the chief guest. Pakistan Baseball Federation Secretary General Khawar Shah was also present on the occasion. Today Sri Lanka will play against Afghanistan 3.00 pm at Punjab stadium.
