Kasur-Depalpur Road: Punjab govt’s largest project

KASUR – The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has said the Kasur-Depalpur Road project is currently the largest road project of the Punjab government. In a press release, the FWO said it took full advantage of the local expertise, labor, materials and services, adding that this mega road project would bring tremendous benefits for the locals and people of other cities as well. It said the dual road would serve as an important link between Lahore and Multan via Kasur, Khudian and Depalpur. It further said the road would facilitate the business community to take milk, vegetables, fodder, sugar canes to other cities.
It added that after the completion of this project, the traveling time between Kasur and Depalupr and Kasur and Okara would decrease. It said besides boosting living standers of the local community, the project would also be very helpful for all those who come to Kasur or Raiwind to attend urs of Bulleh Shah and Inayat Qadri and Tableghi Ijtema after traveling a long distance. The release added that the project titled Rehabilitation of Kasur-Depalpur Road, initiated on January 31, 2009 and sponsored by the Government of Punjab’s C&W Department, was being completed by the FWO. It said in phase one the length of road is 60 kilometers, width is 72 to 103 feet and it has two lanes.
MOTORCYCLIST KILLED IN ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist was killed when his speedy bike collided with at village Dobli in the jurisdiction of Chunian police station. Reportedly, two youths were on their way when their motorcycle collided with a wall. As a result, Ashfaq died on the spot and Shabir injured seriously.
