Hafizabad DPO accused of auctioning police stations

HAFIZABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Hafizabad President Amanullah Sandhu has alleged that District Police Officer Dr Tariq Chohan has ‘auctioned’ all the police stations of the districts after receiving bribes. Addressing a press conference here the other day, he said the son of Ghulam Abbass, a resident of village Shah Jamal, was murdered in a theft incident and Kaleki police registered a case against four accused. Kaleki Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Razaq allegedly received Rs 3 million from the accused and freed all of them on the instructions of DPO Tariq Chohan who received his share of Rs 2 million.
When Ghulam Abbas blamed the DPO for receiving bribes at a conference of senior officers, the DPO got annoyed and ordered the arrest of his son, Talat. The PTI district chief demanded the Punjab chief minister transfer him from Hafizabad and appoint an honest officer in his place. He warned if the corrupt officer was not transferred within a weak, a hunger-strike camp would be held at Fawara Chowk.
When contacted, the DPO refuted all the allegations and added he was not aware of any conference.

The deceased was on his way from Hafizabad on a tractor-trailer. When he reached near Qila Sahib Singh on Jalalpur Road, the vehicle turned turtle.
