Training camp for WI tour starts

LAHORE – The two-day training camp of the West Indies-bound Pakistan cricket team started here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. The players had training in two sessions on the opening day, opting for physical fitness session in the morning session, from 9 am to12 pm. Along with physical training, the players practiced in the nets under the supervision of coach Waqar Younis in the second session between 3 and 6 pm. The green shirts will leave for the series in West Indies on April 14, led by Shahid Afridi and Misbah-ul-Haq. Both the teams will play one T20 match, five ODIs and two Test matches from April 18.
Manager Intikhab Alam said the energy level of team is high and they are moving ahead with full spirits. “They are more desperate for a win after their loss in the World Cup semi-final against India. That loss has developed hunger for win in them,” he added. He further stated that it was a new start for the team and they were looking forward to showing their potential. “They have the potential to beat the West Indies,” he added. “It’s a new challenge and all the players have gelled to deliver and overcome all hurdles to achieve win.” “We have to keep in mind the World Cup performance and stay united to give even better performances.
The win is not far away if all the players play to their potential,” he added. He further stated that players’ fitness level and fielding are improving. He also praised the inclusion of young players in the team and said it will be helpful for the team if new talent was identified. Javed Miandad visited the two-day camp at Gadaffi Stadium. Miandad gave tips and instructions to the players in 2 sessions.

  1. It’s an insult to West Indies Cricket to select Daren sammy.He does not merit a place on the team.There are other players who are miles ahead of him.
