Sri Lanka thrash Nepal in SAARC Baseball

LAHORE – Sri Lanka crushed Nepal 20-0 in the second match of the 1st SAARC Baseball Cup, being played at the Punjab Stadium here on Wednesday. Both the teams failed to open their account in their first two innings. Sri Lankan batters scored four runs in the third innings. Perera, Kasthurimugali, Hapuarachi and Karunarathne scored a run each. In the fourth innings, Lankan batters scored three runs through Mahathanthka, Hapuarachi and Mannautum.
They added two more runs in the fifth innings through Rathnayake and Abcysooriya.
Sri Lankan batters thrashed Nepal pitchers in the sixth innings of the match and scored 11 runs. Mahathanthka, Perera and Mannautum scored three runs each, while Kasthurimugali scored two. The match ended after the sixth innings due to a difference of 15 runs as per BFA rules.
Sri Lankan pitchers were very accurate and did not allow batters from Nepal to score in the match. Waheed Akhtar Ansari, additional secretary sports Punjab was the chief guest. Today, Pakistan will face Nepal at 3:00pm. The Cup is being played on single league basis.
