LAHORE – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Wednesday staging a sit-in in Peshawar to stop the NATO supply line on April 23 and 24.
PTI Central Vice President Ejaz Chaudhary, Secretary Information Umer Sarfaraz Cheema and other office-bearers held a press conference and appealed to the public to participate in the sit-in in large numbers. They said that all PTI organizations including Insaf Students Federation have been motivated in this regard.
They also said that Punjab PTI President Ahsan Rasheed will lead the convoy for Peshawar and invited political and religious parties to participate in the sit-in. They said that 32,000 Pakistanis had lost lives in the war against terrorism, claiming that 99% of citizens who died in the drone attacks were innocent. They also said that the inability of the government to stop drone attacks after the National Assembly’s unanimous resolution was quite shameful. They also said that Pakistan has sustained $ 53 billion losses because of the so called war on terror.
PTI leaders added that till the US remains in the region, Pakistan’s economic and political situation will remain unstable. They said they had fully observed “friendly opposition” during the first three years of the current regime but now they were raising voice against the drone attacks. They said that the West including US will come to know about Pakistani public’s resentment against the drone attacks on April 23 and 24.
