LAHORE – The Pakistan Sports Board has arranged a three week football and volleyball Under-21 training camp for the young boys of FATA at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. The camp is being held on the directives of the Federal Minister for Sports Engr. Shaukat Ullah. Thirty-six players and two officials have arrived at the Complex. They will be trained by senior coaches of the Pakistan Sports Board. Shaukat Ullah met the participants of the training camp and distributed track suits among them. The minister said there is immense sporting potential in the tribal areas of the country but unfortunately due to the lack of sports infrastructure in FATA, the talent could not be tapped properly.
He said that he visited Bajaur Sports Complex recently and directed the officials of the Pakistan Sports Board to modernise and expand the facilities there. The minister was of the view that with an enhanced and improved sports network in FATA, coupled with frequent training camps, it would be much easier to polish the raw talent in FATA. He said that engaging the youth of the tribal areas in healthy sports activities was a purposeful effort and would help redirect the energies of the youth towards constructive activities and save them from falling into the hands of anti-state elements.
