PESHAWAR – At least three militants were gunned down in a clash with police at Hayatabad Industrial Estate in the wee hours of Monday. The encounter also left a police officer dead and a constable injured. The incident occurred when dozens of militants attacked a police post at Hayatabad Industrial estate before the dawn. They killed an assistant sub inspector (ASI), Sajid Khan and injured one police constable.
In retaliation, the policemen cordoned off the militants and killed three of them. The rest of the assailants succeeded to escape. The injured constable was brought to a hospital. The corpses of militants were police custody for identification. Later the funeral for slain ASI Sajid Khan was held at Police Lines. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masud Kausar, KP Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and IGP Fayaz Khan Toru and others attended the funeral.
