Race on for SNGPL MD’s slot

LAHORE – The rumours of change of the managing director of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) have become strong and names of two senior officials are being considered for the lucrative slot, sources told Pakistan Today on Tuesday. The rumours got strong when MD Rashid Lone said that he will resign.
A couple of days ago, the Supreme Court, in its order, said, “As far as the question of continuation of contract of incumbent Abdur Rashid Lone is concerned, the counsel undertakes that the matter shall be placed before the Board of Directors of the company and it would be pointed out that it would not be appropriate to allow him further to continue on contract so other competent engineers may get a better chance for showing their talents in this behalf.”
Two people are considered favourite for the slot including Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Muhammad Shariq and Senior General Manager Arif Hameed. Shariq is considered favourite, as he is the most senior officer and has vast experience of dealing with stakeholders such as the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and the CNG sector, sources said adding that it is not final that an officer of the company will be appointed.
“According to rules, the Board of Directors could ask an outsider for the slot,” sources said adding that if seniority is concerned then both of the above-mentioned officers are in the race but if the BoD takes a different decision then anybody could be appointed. To a question about change in the present MD, an official said that the change is written on the wall.

    ٹانک کے محلہ برکی اباد میں گیس پائپ لائن نہایت ناقص بنیاد پر بچھایا جارہا ہے۔پینے کے پانی کے پائپ لائن اور گیس پائپ لائن کو ایک ساتھ بچھائے جارہے ہیں۔ہم نےمتعلقہ سب انجئیر اعجاز گنداپور سے فون پر بات کی مگر انھوں نے کوئی نوٹس نہیں لیا ۔نہ ہی وہ پائپ لائن کا جائزہ لینے اتے ہیں۔اور ڈیرہ اسمعیل خان سے ریموٹ کنٹرول کے زریعے امور چلارہے ہیں۔ناقص پائپ لائن بچھانے اب تک ڈیرہ اسمعیل خان میں چھ دھماکے ہوئے ہیں۔اور دو ٹانک میں ہوئے ہیں۔اگر کسی شہر ی کا پینے کے پانی کا کنکشن خراب ہوکر اس کے لئے کھدائی کرے گا۔تو اس کھدائی میں گیس پائپ متاثر ہوگا۔اور گیس بھی ضائع ہوگا اور شہر میں اگ لگنے کا بھی خطر ہے۔اس لئے استدعا کی جاتی ہے کہ پینے کے پانی کے پائپ لائن اور گیس پائپ لائن کو ایک دوسرے سے دور رکھنے کے لئے سخت ھدایات صادر کریں۔

  11. I am the mother of a sui northern officer who has crossed all the boundries of corruption and illegal acts. The name of this officer is Syed Shaukat Hussain. He is deputy chief engineer at the sheikhupura office. He has started one sided dispute with me over my property. This dispute is purely from his side. He has threatened me of kidnapping my younger son. He has also threatened me of killing us in a arranged road accident. He some times tries to scare us by numerous labour class workers. This disobedient son must be using his mobile phone to arrange for these acts of scaring us which could be monitored. I request Mr Arif Hameed the MD to open an inquiry against this individual who is also my son.
