LAHORE – Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Punjab chapter on Tuesday welcomed Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s statement regarding the special pay scales for doctors. PMA Punjab President Dr Ashraf Nizami and other office-bearers said that it was a longstanding demand of the PMA Central Council that doctors should be brought out from the National Pay Scale and a special salary package be announced for them according to their professional capabilities.
PMA office-bearers appealed to the Punjab CM to announce a special salary package in Punjab according to the demands presented by the association. The doctors’ community will not accept a minimum raise at any cost, they said. The office-bearers also thanked Punjab Governor Latif Khosa for fully endorsing the demands of the PMA including a special pay package and time scale promotions to the PM.
