LAHORE – A couple was murdered in Kamahan Village in the Nishtar Colony police precincts on Monday evening. The deceased were identified as Nawaz and his wife Irshad, residents of Kamahan Village. Nawaz was a gardener by profession. A police investigator said that the accused, identified as Murtaza, was Irshad’s cousin. Irshad had reportedly eloped with Murtaza, and they had a son, SHO Nishtar Colony Police Station claimed. Later, Irshad had returned home and had started living with Nawaz. Murtaza visited the couple’s house on Monday around 5:00 pm and demanded his son from Irshad. When the couple refused, Murtaza shot them and fled.
The couple was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. After hearing the gunshots, locals gathered on the crime scene and informed the police. The police collected forensic evidence and shifted the bodies to the morgue. The couple had four children; three daughters and a son. The incident created panic in the area. A police team also recorded statements of couple’s children and have launched a search operation. Police have registered a case against Murtaza on the complaint of Irshad’s brother, while Murtaza has not yet been arrested.
