AMRITSAR – India on Monday released 39 Pakistani prisoners, including two women, officials said, less than a week after Islamabad set free an Indian jailed in the country for 23 years. They were handed over to the Pakistan Rangers at the Wahga Border, after which they were received by the team of Edhi Volunteers. Majority of the prisoners were held on violation of maritime-belt.
Indian border guard officer Lakhbir Singh told AFP that the detainees were held in eight separate prisons on charges of either overstaying their visa or illegally crossing into India. Pakistan last week released a jailed Indian national who had been held for 23 years. The freed male Pakistanis were transferred to the Edhi Home, Gulberg, while the females were shifted to the Balqees Edhi Home, Township, from where they will be transported to their respective homes.
As a reciprocal act of goodwill, Pakistan will also release 100 Indian prisoners on April 15.
my concern is about the pow`s of 65 war and of 71 war as i read some where that there also army personals in the indian jails and these r not just soldiers but also the officer but no body is giving there names neither India Nor Pakistan or the media is not disclosing .What i want to say is that the list of Pow`s of both side should be published and both governments should tell whether they are alive and there mental health,as 40 t0 45 yrs has been passed and the POW`s are no more young or can work or participate in any activity against the enemy,So its the right of prisoner that they should be freed and there names should be published in news papers so there families can have hope to live as long time has passed several governments have changed but nobody have done any thing for army prisoner.
