LAHORE – As result of a meeting held with the IGP Punjab, the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Punjab and the CCPO have agreed on Tuesday to establish the Industry Police Liaison Committee (IPLC) office to control growing incidents of industrial crimes. The meeting was held at APTMA premises and chaired jointly by APTMA Senior Vice Chairman Wisal A Monnoo and Lahore CCPO Aslam Tareen.
The joint office was agreed upon for effective communication, control and cooperation under the arrangement. APTMA members shared their security concerns and mentioned incidents affecting their daily businesses on ground. It was pointed out that some 35 complaints have recently been brought to the attention of the Inspector General Police (IGP). Moreover, potential criminal threat hampering an environment conducive to further investment was highlighted.
It was also proposed that verification of labour force at factories will deter criminal activities. Both sides also agreed upon the appointment of a focal person from either side for future liaison between the industry and the police department. Lahore CCPO agreed to a proposal that the liaison network be on APTMA premises but properly linked to the police department. He also offered training to the security staff of factories by the police trainers. The next meeting of the two sides will be held on April 27, to finalise the setting up of a joint office and further necessary arrangements.
