LAHORE – PML-N senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafiq has called MQM’s public rally “a flop show,” saying Altaf Hussian’s “London-brand” revolution took its last breath at football ground of Gaddafi Stadium forever. It was not a Jalsa (public meeting), rather a Jalsi that pricked the imaginary publicity bubble that the MQM fantasised, he added.
Saad said the public meeting was a joint show of the MQM and PML-Q, but failed to create any ripple. He said the public meeting could not make a splash despite spending millions of rupees collected through the extortion from the people of Karachi. “The dismal show is a lesson to MQM that unless it stops extortion and target killings in Karachi, people in other parts of the country will never welcome it,” he said.
He said Altaf Hussain claimed to oppose feudalism and landlord, but backed Asif Ali Zardari, one of the biggest landlords in Sindh to become the president of Pakistan. The PML-N nominated Justice (r) Syedul Zaman Siddiqui as its presidential candidate. He alleged that MQM was the party that came into power with the help of feudalists.
“We provided all facilities to the MQM to hold public meeting that is why the MQM leadership did not complain before or after the rally,” Saad added. PML-N spokesman Ahsan Iqbal also called the MQM’s Lahore rally a flop show, saying that more than 70 percent participants were transported from Karachi.
In his reaction to the MQM rally held on Sunday, Ahsan said how could the party claim to eliminate feudalism when itself had been part of the feudal system in Karachi for the last 30 years. He said MQM could not end load shedding in Karachi and could not achieve set targets.
