LAHORE – The officers of Punjab Health Department admitted in front of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC-1) that all drug inspectors were corrupt, while the committee expressed its dissatisfaction over the performance of Punjab Health Foundation (PHF) and Pharmacy Council Punjab (PCP). The PAC-1 meeting under the chairmanship of Chaudhary Zaheer-ud-Din reviewed the audit paras of concerning PHF and PCP on Monday.
The members of the committee including Maj (r) Rana Abdul Rehman, Bashir Gujjar, Mehr Ishtiaq and Syed Nazim Shah attended the meeting. The committee has asked the PHF and PCP to appear before it on May 4 with complete record, besides summoning the Punjab Health secretary on the same day. The officers told the PAC-1 that PHF had not held a single meeting of its board of directors for the last two years.
They told the committee that option for closing the foundation was also under consideration. The committee has decided to defer any clear direction regarding the PHF and PCP until reviewing the complete record on May 4.
